I’ve developed a bit of a reputation for being a cat lady, and you know what? I’m OK with it. I bought my cats (and myself) a house earlier this year, and having extra space at home was one reason I finally joined Costco. Come with me on a journey through some excellent Costco.com buys for my fellow cat people.

1. Cat food options

There are lots of places to buy cat food — I usually source mine from Amazon, Petsmart, or Chewy, depending on which retailer has the best price on the food I need to restock. Were I to switch my cats to Kirkland Signature cat food, I would definitely spend less.

I just spent $34.28 ($3.12 per pound) on my cats’ grain-free dry food, Purina Beyond, at Chewy. But Costco sells its highly rated (4.6 out of 5 stars) grain-free offering, Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain, for $25.99 for 18 pounds ($1.44 per pound) on its website. Discuss your pets’ nutritional needs with their veterinarian, and if Costco’s cat food offerings fit the bill, you might consider switching to save some serious money.

2. Sturdy feline furniture

If you want your cats to lead happy, healthy, and fulfilled lives, you have to provide them with safe places to hide, jump, climb, and scratch in your home. And it’s better for all involved if they have their own furniture, lest they use your couch, bed, or dining room chairs for these habits.

One Costco offering that caught my eye was the Prestige Cat Trees Maine Coon Cat House, which stands 65″ high and is suitable for multiple cats, larger cats, or multiple larger cats. (Maine Coon cats are a larger breed — males can top 20 pounds.) It sells for $199.99 on Costco.com, and I admit, I found the same or similar prices elsewhere on the internet.

But if you buy this cat tree from Costco, not only do you get free shipping, but you also get the benefit of Costco’s generous return policy — you can return most items anytime, with no questions asked. If your cats decide to boycott this tree (they can be fickle), you can get your money back.

3. Flea and tick prevention

You may or may not need to worry about flea and tick prevention for your feline friend — my trio exclusively stays indoors and I don’t have reason to worry that they’re susceptible to an infestation (and my vet agrees). But if you need this medicine for your cats, Costco could be a good place to buy it.

At Costco.com, you’ll pay $79.99 for eight doses of Frontline Plus for Cats (given once per month), or $10 each. Chewy has an eight-month supply of the same preventive for $96.98 — more than $12 per dose.

4. A great way to keep your home clean

As much as I love my cats, they aren’t great at cleaning up after themselves. It falls on me to ensure my home isn’t taken over by piles of cat hair, so I use a combination of broom, hand vacuum, robot vacuum, and cordless upright vacuum to make it happen. (And no, I don’t have an addiction to vacuum cleaners — I can quit buying them anytime!)

If I wanted to upgrade my upright vacuum to the Samsung Bespoke Jet cordless vacuum, I could get it for just $419.99 (with a special pet hair cleaning tool) this month. This vacuum has up to 60 minutes of runtime and an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Costco.com. If I went through Amazon instead, I’d pay $549.99 for a model of this vacuum without the special pet cleaning perks.
